Silly Observations, Silly Rants

Hey people of the world, I trust y'all are doing good!
I'm doing ok myself, and I'm back here to write a little post on... well, basically nothing important. This could turn out to be a pretty lame post. So let's begin.

I've noticed that when sports teams play against each other, at the end of the game, people say India won, or India lost...This is probably some kind of OCD acting up on my part, but by saying that India won or India lost, you're implying that a whole nation won or lost playing that sport...No no no! It's actually, 'The Indian Cricket Team won' or 'The Indian Cricket Team lost'. That's the reality of it. A group of 11 Indian players lost to another group of 11 players of another country. That's about it. The entire nation didn't win or lose, just that set of 11 players, who represent their nation in that sport.

The sentence 'India won' or 'India lost', to me, basically means that the entire nation of around a 1.5 billion people won or lost to another nation's entire population. Let me assure you, if all the people of India played cricket against all the people of another nation, we would win. The sheer population of India, let alone their cricket playing skills, would be impossible to handle for the other nation. So the right way of saying it would be 'The Indian Cricket Team won' or 'The Indian Cricket Team lost', not 'India won' or 'India lost'. See the difference? Say it out loud, you'll see it. Subtle, but deceptively powerful...maybe not...I dunno.

This goes for all sports or events in general. I mean, can you imagine how much pressure the players must endure, when you call them India?! That's unnecessarily too much. Call them the Indian Cricket Team or the Indian Hockey Team or whatever the sport may be. That should suffice. At the end of the day, 'India won' or 'India lost' would really apply in a situation where the whole country is actually involved...like, perhaps a war.

Honestly, if you've read all this, and come to this point of the post...you must have a ton of patience, or you really must like my blog work. Hahaha. Anyway, I can safely conclude that this was one pointless post, and I don't think anything good is going to come out of this. Haha. Just some thoughts in my head, I thought I'll share with the world.

I've got to get back to work. So later folks. Peace.
